As a school, we talk a lot about Professional Standards—and being on time is a key factor. It might seem like a small thing, but arriving at school on time each day is a Professional Standard and this really does set the tone for everything that follows.
Arriving late sets a rushed and unsettled tone for the day, and arriving late to lessons can distract others and disrupt learning. Over time, this can really add up—not just for the student who’s late, but for their classmates too.
Punctuality helps build good habits that matter now and in the future. It shows respect, responsibility, and helps students feel more settled and ready to learn.

Why Punctuality Matters
When students arrive on time, they start the day calmly, and are ready to learn. It helps them feel prepared and shows they’re taking their education seriously. These are life habits—not just school rules. In any job or course later on, being on time will be expected.
Most Students Are Doing the Right Thing
Let me say this first: most of our students get it right. They show up on time every day, ready to go—and we really appreciate that. But we do have a small group of students who are regularly late without a good reason, and this needs to change.
Being late doesn’t just affect them—it disrupts the start of the day for everyone else too.
If you need support or to speak to someone about punctuality or attendance, please contact the school on 01744 678 030 and ask to speak with the year team. Alternatively, you can contact the school via telephone or email to arrange an appointment where we can look at any timing issues together.
