Students should arrive at school for the normal start time to ensure they are settled and ready before exams begin. It’s a good idea to arrive a little earlier in case of any unexpected delays. Regardless of what time their mock exam starts, it should be treated as a normal school day.
If your child is late, they should still come to school as quickly as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate them, providing they arrive before the exam starts. This mirrors the exams they will sit at the end of year 11. Arriving on time ensures they get the full opportunity to show what they know. If your child arrives after the exam start time, they will be unable to sit the exam and will be expected to sit it after school the same day.
If a student is unable to complete a catch-up exam after school on the same day, it will not be possible to offer a further resit. This will result in your child receiving a U grade for this mock exam. The children are fortunate we are able to offer a repeat on the same day, as that will not be afforded to them in their end of year 11 exams.
Morning exams typically begin at 09:00, although some begin in line with period three and therefore start at 11:15. Afternoon exams start at 14:05. Please check the specific timetable as exact times may vary slightly by subject.
Not at all. Even a small amount of focused revision can make a big difference. Encourage your child to review key topics, practice past questions, or use flashcards. It’s about making the most of the time they have now. Support can be found by accessing the revision booklet. Students should have a physical copy, but there is also one available on this page.
It’s completely normal for students to feel pressure during exam season. You can support by helping them create a manageable revision schedule, encouraging breaks and good sleep, and simply being available to listen. Reassure them that effort matters just as much as results. Links to Mental Health services are available on this page.
