Uptree is a free professional networking and work experience platform for students (aged 16-20), supporting them to bridge the gap between education and employment.

Any student can sign up and create an account here, where they can access upcoming work experience opportunities. Our work experience opportunities are all single-day events, and are currently being held online. We work with a variety of different partners across the UK, including Google, Arm, IBM, J.P. Morgan and many more. 

Clifford Chance Law Work Experience Day (online)

Overview

You might not have thought too much about your future career yet. Or it could be that you’ve already set your heart on a certain path. But if you’re looking to be part of a challenging environment where everyone is empowered to be themselves, you should definitely consider a legal career with a leading global firm – Clifford Chance. Join Clifford Chance for this exciting online work experience day to learn more about a career in law, solve some legal problems and meet legal professionals.

This event will particularly focus on Clifford Chances ACCESS scheme, information about the scheme and applying to it. You’ll also get to meet the recruiters!

Who should attend?

Year 12 students who will be applying for the Clifford Chance ACCESS Scheme, are available to attend the scheme between 1st – 4th August 2022 and are eligible. 

In order to apply to Clifford Chance ACCESS, you must meet the following qualifying criteria:

  • You are in Year 12 (England and Wales), S5 (Scotland) or Lower Sixth (Northern Ireland)
  • You are attending, and have attended from age 11, a state-funded, non-fee-paying school/college 
  • You grew up in a household where no parent or guardian attended university.
  • In addition, you must also meet one or more of the following criteria:
  • You are currently in receipt of or have previously received, free school meals, Pupil Premium, Education Maintenance Allowance and/or a 16 to 19 Bursary
  • You are attending a school or college with a:
  • a) below average A-level or Higher point score; and/or
    b) low rate of progression to higher education
  • You have been, or are currently, in local authority care (for a period of three months or longer)
  • You are or have been, a full-time or part-time carer
  •  You came to the UK as a refugee or asylum seeker.

Note: Young people who meet the local authority care criterion do not need to meet any other criterion.

FuturesUP: Multi-industry Careers Event (online)

Overview

Working out what to do when you finish school is really important. In fact, it could be one of the biggest choices you’ll ever make. That’s why this year in February, we’ll be hosting our 19th FuturesUP virtual careers fair, in line with National Apprenticeship week and you’re invited! 

Feedback from Uptree alumni students is that our FuturesUP events were the first step in helping them discover what they wanted to do in the future, whether that was a subject, career, or University vs Apprenticeship. Does this sound like it could be you? Then sign up to attend! This is also a great opportunity to find out about the opportunities our partner companies have available to students like you. 

The employers you’ll get to meet represent all industries from finance, trading, media and advertising, professional services, business, law, engineering, and technology.

Employers you’ll get to meet are J.P. Morgan (Finance), KPMG (Finance and Tech), MBDA (Stem), Norton Rose Fulbright (Law), Publicis Groupe UK (Creative), PwC (Finance and Tech), Sequel (Tech), Tideway (Stem), IBM (Tech), GCHQ (Stem) and Arm (Tech). 

You’ll also get to meet Uptree Alumni who have gone on to do Apprenticeships, as well as have the chance to ask experts at Uptree your questions about your future.

We welcome all Uptree students who are beginning to think about their next steps, who are interested in learning more about their options or who are hoping to gain work experience opportunities, find internships, or just who are intrigued to know more.

DWF Law Work Experience Day, (Online)

Overview

DWF is a global legal business, supplying services not only to the global legal market but also providing complementary connected services to their clients. Their purpose is to transform legal services using three principal strategic objectives: understanding clients, engaging people and doing things differently.

Your day could look like this:

  • Introduction to the event by DWF & Uptree
  • Introduction to DWF by guest speaker 
  • Overview of the pathways into Law with DWF
  • Recruiter session on the application process

  • Wrap-up and opportunity for informal networking

Who Can Apply? 

Any Year 13 student who is interested in pursuing a career in law, and is expecting to achieve 3Cs or equivalent at A-Level.
