An Opportunity to Unleash your coding hero with Kainos!

February 15-17 2022, 10am-3pm

We’re delighted to offer young people from across the UK, aged 14-19 a virtual insight into what it’s like to work in IT. Over the 3 days that you’ll spend with us, you will get to experience a taste of everything we do here at Kainos, meet our people, and get hands-on experience of web development. Ideally you will be working on your own laptop from home to access this opportunity but if this is not possible don`t worry you can still register.

No clue about IT or coding? No problem! At the start of the week you’ll be assigned a mentor who’s there to help every step of the way. We will help to grow your skills, teach you more about the world-changing projects we work on, and we’ll demo some of the cutting-edge technologies that we use. Using coding challenges, you’ll then put everything you’ve learned into action by creating your own web applications!

Do you want to understand more about the sector? Or how an office works? Do you fancy building your communication skills, problem solving or IT Skills? Are you interested in Team work, project life cycles and learning Industry basics? Then this is the experience for you! We want students who are willing to learn, keen to try new things and are enthusiastic, to join us. RAPP: RAPP Virtual Design Insight Session

Our Insight Session is designed to introduce you to our world with a key focus on our functions within the Design department. You’ll hear from some of our amazingly talented individuals from all areas of Design; from User Interface Design, Print Design, Branding, Typography, Illustration and Data Visualisation.

You’ll hear about what a typical day in the life of involves and some hints and tips about how you can kick start a career in advertising and marketing within a Design Team.

Work Experience Week – Nursing

14-18 February 2022

What does the week involve?

During the Virtual Work Experience you will take part in a range of sessions, meet nurses working across the different fields of nursing and in different roles, and gain knowledge of skills needed to start a career in nursing and other fields. You will take part in interactive sessions, talks and tasks, and have lots of opportunities to ask questions.

You will find out about different areas of nursing (adult nursing, children`s nursing, learning disability nursing, and mental health nursing) and some of the different roles available; how you can get into nursing, and what you can do now to get the skills you need to apply. You’ll get to meet a variety of nurses and hear their stories and advice, including how they have developed their career, the impact Covid-19 has had on them and their role, and what they love (and hate) about being a nurse.

At the end of the week you will have developed skills and an understanding of this exciting career.

You will need to have internet and computer access for the duration of the week. Somewhere quiet to work from 10am – 3pm, Monday to Friday. Lunch and breaks will be taken during the day to be arranged during the work experience. We’ll send you a full schedule the week before. The work experience is delivered using Google Classrooms that meets all GDPR and Safeguarding requirements. You will need to join each session every day.

Virtual Work Experience with the national tourism board – VisitBritain/VisitEngland

15-17 February 2022

This is an exciting opportunity to understand what it`s like working for the national tourist board. Over the three days, via a virtual `office`, students will gain an insight into the work of VisitBritain/VisitEngland and hear from the team what exciting opportunities working in tourism could include. The placements will involve time in several different parts of the business, which may cover:

  • Working on Live Briefs
  • Understanding the role of VisitBritain/VisitEngland
  • Marketing Britain and England
  • Making England accessible
  • Working with international offices
  • Why business and major events are so important

The days will be planned between 10:00 and 15:00 from 15th February to 17th February 2022. We look forward to getting your application!

The Be Extraordinary virtual work experience gives students the opportunity to get an extraordinary insight into this unique company.

Over the course of the session, running from 10am to 3pm, you will get the opportunity to:

Trafalgar Entertainment Virtual Insight Day – exploring roles behind the stage

Co-founded by Sir Howard Panter and Dame Rosemary Squire in 2017, Trafalgar Entertainment is a premium international live entertainment business focussed on new productions, the distribution of live-streaming innovative content and the provision of amazing spaces where people can come together to share in the experience of live entertainment.

This session will be delivered over 1 day online and is interactive. You will be asked to participate throughout.

We will help you to understand the full range of the Customer team activities. This includes:

What could go wrong?
