COURSE DESCRIPTION - General overview of course
This one-year course, which is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade C or above. This course is ideal for those interested in working with children. It qualifies you to
go directly into employment in a supervised role. You will be expected to carry out half of the course at a work placement.

WHAT THE COURSE WILL INVOLVE
You will have to complete 6 units over one year. One large unit will be practically assessed whilst on placement. You will be on placement for 1 day a week.
Units covered in school include:
- Physical care and development of the child
- Working with children
- Emotional and social development
- Preparing for Employment with young children
- Preparing for Employment with young children
- Working with babies 0-1 year

REQUIREMENTS (skills/knowledge/qualifications you will need to follow the course)
Students must have an interest and a desire to work with children
Students should have a basic literacy and numeracy skills and have either; at least four GCSE passes at grade E or above. These must include Maths and English
Regular and punctual attendance, as well as the ability to meet agreed deadlines.

FORM OF ASSESSMENT/EXAMINATION
Unit 6 is practically assessed on placement. All other units are assessed on the quality of an assignment. There is one external examination that
cover topics in all units. The answers will be multiple choice

PROGRESSION - What the course can lead to
- You could go on to do the CACHE Level 3 Diploma
- Go into the world of work in a supervised role in a variety of settings
Including: Private and nursery schools, Day nurseries, Private homes, Play groups, Family centres and créches
