Sixth Form : The Partnership

The Cowley Language College Sixth Form Partnership


Under this agreement the College will endeavour to provide:-
- A programme of courses that is delivered by suitably qualified and effective members of staff using appropriate facilities and resources.
- A friendly caring environment.
- A tutor who monitors your progress and provides guidance and assistance in achieving targets.
- Regular setting and marking of work to be completed during private study time and a quiet well resourced study area.
- Support in developing good study skills, coping with stress and time management.
- The opportunity to take part in leisure and extra curricular activities.
- A careers programme suited to your needs with easy access to expert careers advice from the Connexions Service.
- Individual targets for each subject based on prior attainment and regular monitoring of progress towards these targets.
- At least two opportunities each year for your parents/carers to come into college to discuss your progress.
- One set of written reports each year.


Under this agreement you (the student) will be expected to:-
- Be determined to make the most of your time in the Sixth Form.
- Accept responsibility for your own learning with the support of your subject teachers and tutor.
- Complete all assignments to the required standard and by the required deadline.
- Use your private study time in college effectively.
- Attend all lessons promptly, including General Studies, Foreign Languages and Re-Sits. Achieve and minimum of 90% overall attendance.
- Attend a weekly meeting with your tutor.
- Attend assemblies.
- Discuss with your tutor or subject teacher in advance if your have a good reason to miss a lesson or leave the college.
- Use the signing in/out system.
- Respect the individual rights of all members of the college and behave according to the whole school Code of Conduct.
- Act as a positive role model for the younger students in the college community.
- Adhere to the sixth form dress code.
- Contribute to the College by undertaking some form of community action.
- Accept that you may be asked to leave the sixth form if the above conditions are not met.


This agreement is intended to give students a clear understanding of what they can expect from the college and what will be expected of them in return. As always the partnership agreement is subject to alterations.
