Here at Cowley, we are taking part in a host of activities and events to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee following her 70 years on the throne.

The Great Cowley Jubilee Bake Off

We’re inviting students to bake a cake to help us to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on the final day of term, Friday 27th May. We know we have some fantastic bakers in amongst our students!
Bring your cakes to W9 before Team Time on Friday. There’s a prize for the winning Star Baker!
All entries will then go on sale at break time to raise money for one of the Queen’s chosen charities.

There was also a staff cafe at lunch time, manned by some of the Hospitality and Catering students who did a fantastic job in serving staff cakes, scones, tea and coffee in return for donations towards one of the Queen’s chosen charities.
All in all, we raised £142 for the Prince’s Trust. Well done, everyone!

Art

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, our Art department have set a homework competition for all Year 7 and Year 8 students to design and make a wearable crown out of recycle materials.
All crowns submitted will be displayed and the winner will receive a £20 voucher and a certificate to say they are the King or Queen of Cowley Crowns.

MFL
The Languages department have been studying Royal words in French and German lessons in the past few days, as well as designing some beautiful crowns to learn more about the Jubilee.

Science
In Science lessons, students have been discussing the scientific advances which the Queen has seen during the 70 years of her reign.
Year 9 student, Ruby, has particularly enjoyed this and took her work home and came back to her next lesson with six pages of writing about the many advances and changes in Science which have taken place over the past 70 years. Well done, Ruby!
Library
Students have got involved and have been helping with making bunting and displays for the library to decorate the room for the Jubilee. It looks fantastic! Great work, everyone!
