q&a with our library assistants

We caught up with four of Cowley’s student volunteer Library Assistants, Ellie, Megan, Eliana and Ella, to get an insight into their roles and to quiz them on all things books!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?
Ellie: Demon Dentist by
David Walliams
Megan: Awful Auntie by
David Walliams
Eliana: Wave Me Goodbye by Jacqueline Wilson
Ella: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHARACTER FROM ANY BOOK?
Megan: Raj the Shopkeeper. This character is in every single David Walliams book apart from Awful Auntie.

WHAT DOES A LIBRARY ASSISTANT DO?
Megan: We organise books, help out where needed and we assist in library display work too.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE LIBRARY EVENT SO FAR?
Eliana: My favourite event so far has been Book Buzz. There was lots going on, such as games for everyone to play, quizzes and we were even treated to hot chocolate!

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND BEING A LIBRARY ASSISTANT TO OTHERS?
Ella: Yes! I have been a Library Assistant since Year 7 (Ella is now in Year 10) and I find that this role is very satisfying and helps to distract from everyday stresses. A highlight of this role for me is being able to see new books before anyone else.
