Cowley Sixth Form College is delighted to announce that Year 13 students Liam Downing and Jenna Liley will be Head Boy and Head Girl respectively for the 2020-21 academic year.
Liam, who has been a Cowleian right the way through from 11-16 to the Sixth Form, is studying History, Business, Psychology, Music Performance and the Extended Project Qualification as well as Mandarin as part of the Cowley Honours Programme.
About becoming Head Boy, he explained: “I feel tremendously excited. It is a big thing for me to be able to have this role, it’s an honour really.
“It is not something to be taken lightly. It’s a huge responsibility and I’m determined to carry out that responsibility in a positive way.
“I want to show why people voted for me and it’s great experience of having a big responsibility which is really useful going forward.
“I’d like to introduce an Eco Council to the sixth form site, similar to that on the 11-16 site, and it’s hopefully something we can present to the student council very soon.”
Jenna arrived at Cowley Sixth Form having attended Rainford High School and is studying Criminology, Sociology and Psychology.
Upon assuming her new role at college, she said: “I’m really proud and really happy. When I applied, I didn’t think there was any chance of getting it, so I’m really pleased that everyone has put their faith in me to do this role.
“I wasn’t sure I was capable of doing it, so I’m proving to myself that it’s something that I can do.
“My main aim from this year as Head Girl is to try to help provide additional support to my fellow students, especially with mental health during this unprecedented period.”
