HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT HITS ALL THE HIGH NOTES TO WIN BIG AT THE NODA AWARDS

Caitlin Boulton, a Year 11 student at Cowley International College, has won a National Operatic and Dramatic Association award for her part as the Mother Abbess in a performance of The Sound of Music.

The 16-year-won fought off stiff competition to win the North West District Award for Best Supporting Female in a Youth Musical.

On reflecting on the award win, Caitlin said: “When they called my name, I was lost for words.  I honestly didn’t think I would win.”

Caitlin is part of local drama school RTDA.  The performance of the musical that won her the prize took place in August last year at the St Helens Theatre Royal.

Caitlin, who has been acting and singing from an early age, has played a key role in the Performing Arts at Cowley for the last five years. Caitlin is set to study Musical Theatre at Cowley Sixth Form after finishing her GCSEs later this year.

Award winners were announced during a black-tie ceremony in Southport earlier this month. Caitlin now moves on to the regional finals.
