Cowley International College has been awarded the School Membership of Music Mark in recognition of our continued commitment to ensuring that students are offered and given access to a high quality music education.
From the start of Year 7, students are encouraged to become involved in a wide range of different musical experiences, from being part of the renowned college choir, to being in full school productions.
The state-of-the-art college boasts eight practice rooms that are fully equipped with keyboards, a full samba kit, a class set of ukuleles, drum kits and a wide selection of guitars and amplifiers.
Through high levels of teacher and student commitment, the department prides itself on the high standards of musical opportunities which are regularly delivered within school, the local community and on foreign concert tours.
Students from all year groups show great interest in the subject, not only in timetabled lessons but in extra-curricular activities and there are plenty to choose from! From ukulele, samba, rock school and four choirs, there is ample opportunity for students to further explore and showcase their talents and interests.
Mrl Watkins, Assistant Headteacher and Head of Performing Arts, said: “We are delighted to have been nominated to be a Music Mark member.
“We are incredibly proud of our musical offering and I thank our performing arts staff for their dedication and our students for their enthusiasm, energy and love of learning.”
The Music Mark is awarded to schools that recognise the value of music as part of the curriculum and within their school community.
