YEAR 10 revision strategies

Flash Cards

Create a set of flash cards that cover a key topic or area.

Your teachers can give you card or paper to help you make the cards.

Once you have made the cards categorise them into 3 boxes: the ones you are confident with, those you are unsure about, and those you do not know at all.

Use the cards regularly to help you remember the key information.

The key to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Leitner system is that the cards in the lower boxes–the ones you know less well–are reviewed more frequently than the cards in the higher boxes. For example, the cards in Box 1 might be reviewed 3 times as often as those in Box 3. It’s up to you to choose the frequency of review for each box. Here are some example review times for a four-box set up:

Review Box 1
Review Box 2

One page dual coding

GCSE Pod is an effective tool to support Dual Coding.

This is why it is such an effective revision tool.

Watch the pods suggested by your class teachers on your revision list.

While you watch pause at key points and  create mind maps, timelines and diagrams that include pictures/symbols and images to help you remember key information.
