A young carer is a child or young person who looks after someone in their family who has an illness, a disability, or is affected by mental ill-health or substance misuse.
They may be doing things like cooking, cleaning, shopping, giving medication to provide support.
Often, young carers can be affected in the following ways:
• They worry about the person they care for
• They are unable to spend time with friends
• Feel lonely and isolated
