STUDENTS COMING BACK IN JANUARY – UPDATED 31ST DEC 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope you and your family are well and have managed to have a good Christmas holiday.

We wrote to you before the Christmas break following the Government’s announcement for the staggered start in January, due to the dynamic nature of responding to the virus, we are now able to share some more information following the Government’s announcement yesterday evening.

The college will be open to Years 11 and 13 from Monday, 11th January with all students returning on Monday 18th January.

Students must work at home from Tuesday 5th January until their return date.

Students should follow their college timetable at home and visit the Home Learning page on our website for details and instructions.

Years 11, 12 and 13 students, in most cases, will have live lessons through MS Teams and other year groups will work through the set work on the website. Staff will be contacting home throughout this time to offer support and check on progress. If your child does not have ICT to complete home learning, then please contact the year team.  It is essential that home learning takes place, so your child continues with their learning and does not fall behind.

If your child is vulnerable, or you are a critical worker and your child is not able to stay at home on their own, then the college will provide supervised study from Tuesday, 5th January from 8:30am to 3pm.  If you would like your child to use this resource, please contact the college to book your child’s place, on Monday 4th January before 4pm.

Some students in Years 12 and 13 have external exams next week; these exams will continue and students will be contacted directly to be informed of preparation lessons and exam procedures.

From Monday 11th January, the college will start COVID testing and is currently working with the LA and PHE to enable this to take place. We will be communicating with you next week to provide further details and requesting consent for this to take place. If possible, please complete this consent form and return to the office. We will, however, be sending a hard copy in the post next week if you do not have printing facilities.

We thank you for your continued support and patience while we navigate our way through these very tricky times. As always, if there is anything, we can do to help your child or your family then please do get in touch.
