The European Day of Languages is held every year on the 26 September. This was started by the Council of Europe on 6 December 2001. Its aim is to encourage language learning across Europe.
To celebrate this annual event, students at Cowley will undertake some fun and informative activities in lessons to deepen their understanding of why languages are an important part of their curriculum.
Language learning enhances lives and allows us greater opportunities in the wider world. Staff have shared some amusing anecdotes of their lifetime experiences abroad – showing students that we all have the opportunity to travel, work in other countries and immerse ourselves in different cultures.
Students will undertake quizzes, watch informative videos and be able to discuss the relevance of languages in the modern world we live in.
We are also intending to share and compare experiences of the current world situation and how citizens of different European countries have been brought together to support each other.
