online learning – years 7-10

Updated: 16th June 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Home Learning

Beginning this week, the College will offer some ‘face to face’ time for Y10’s and Y12’s. We are very much looking forward to seeing the students and doing some ‘face to face’ learning.

Thank you for supporting your daughter/son with their home learning, we know it is not easy to build and sustain a routine in these tricky times. The home learning that is taking place is absolutely essential, so your daughter/son does not fall behind. The work set on the website and Common drive will continue with some supplementary ‘online’ teaching resources with staff for a number of subjects uploading items onto Microsoft Teams. The use of Teams will allow for a more interactive online learning experience, with work often being a PowerPoint with a subject teacher explaining/teaching the content.

Using Microsoft Teams

We have put together some key information of how to access, download and use Microsoft Teams here:

Please spend some time helping your daughter/son to access Microsoft Teams and download the app onto the device you use at home.

Subjects using Microsoft Teams

The following subjects are currently setting some work on Teams:

  • RS
  • PSHE
  • Geography
  • History
  • Animal care
  • Computing
  • Travel and Tourism
  • Maths
  • Dance
  • Business
  • Yr 9 & 10 Graphics
  • Food Technology
  • Art

The list of subjects using Teams is changing daily and this list will be updated regularly.

Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 Students

The set work will continue to be displayed on the College website each week. Try to keep to your College timetable for some structure. Activities and videos to supplement this work will be shared through Microsoft Teams. Videos will be under ‘files’ and any worksheets or tasks will be under ‘assignments’. Please log into Teams to check and complete work. Remember you will need headphones for the audio.

Year 10 Students

There will be some ‘face to face’ time in school where you will be scheduled in for 1 day per week. This will be to supplement the work set on the website and through Microsoft Teams. The scheduled day Y10 come in to College each week, is in addition to the home learning which is already taking place.

If students have any feedback or would like to send us your photos of you working with Microsoft Teams, please email them to

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the College.
