Last week, 97 Cowley students from Years 7 and 8 took part online in the Junior Maths Challenge 2020, ran by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT).
The challenge was a difficult one but the Cowley students produced excellent results.
With a maximum score of 135 available, the top three award thresholds were set as Gold 102+, Silver 86+, Bronze 70+.
Four Cowley students achieved Gold certificates, an additional four collected Silver and a further 24 gained Bronze.
The Best in School award goes to Year 7 student Aimee Atherton who scored a terrific 118 – well done Aimee!
A huge well done goes to everyone who took part and we extend a thank you to all the parents who assisted many of the students who were participating from home.
UKMT have produced Online Certificates, of which we will organise printing and distribution to the students involved.
Students are reminded that you can compare your answers with the solutions by logging in to the Challenge website using the login details you were emailed initially.
There, you will be able to see the question, the answer options (with your answer highlighted), whether you answered correctly and a solution explanation underneath (see below).
Our thanks to teachers of 7B1 & 7R1 Jane Bessant, 8B1 Annie Lambe & Natalie Clayton and 8R1 Jennifer Ward for all their help and support with the challenge, with special thanks to Steven Howarth for persistently emailing out details.
