On Tuesday, 29th November, 18 students represented Cowley in the St Helens Badminton Tournament at Broadway Badminton Centre.
In the KS4 competition, the ‘A’ team played exceptionally well to go through to the next round to represent St Helens and Cowley in the Merseyside event in January at Edge Hill College.
In the KS3 competition, Cowley’s ‘A’ team also went through to the Merseyside round having been placed second. The ‘B’ team were placed third so both teams won medals.
All the players were congratulated by the organisers for their effort and behaviour on and off the court. Every one of them represented Cowley admirably. We very much hope that all these players will continue to work hard to develop their game and take advantage of the coaching which is available
Cowley was represented by Scott Aldred, Jake Bickerstaffe, Kieran Brown, Marc Cookson, Ryan Cox, Karl Earle, Dan Kay, Connor Kerwin, Charlie Lee, Max Lyon, Sam Mason, Alastair Millar, Charlie Moore, Nasser Noosbally, Minura Salwatura, Callum Taylor, Frazer Twist-Wilson and Keith Zhang.
We are grateful to two senior players from Cowley’s St Helens League Team (both of whom are former pupils) who helped with transport and with umpiring many of the games.
Congratulations to everyone who represented Cowley so impressively, irrespective of the results.
