students achieve bronze d of e award

In Friday’s assembly, some of our Year 11’s received their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, certificate and badge.

To complete the award, students had to:

  • Volunteer
  • Take part in Physical activity
  • Demonstrate Skills
  • Take part in an expedition section: 2 days/1 night

Well done to you all!

To those of you who haven’t completed your award yet don’t worry there is still time! Speak to the D of E team to get it sorted.

Cowley gives students of Year 10 an opportunity to gain their DoE Bronze Award before they leave College.

The DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, you just need to be aged over 14.

Why do your DofE?

Good question! Because, from the first day to the last it’s a real adventure. Every section gives you something different – that’s the fun of it!

You’ll enjoy loads of new experiences, discover talents you never thought you had, challenge yourself and meet loads of people just like you. Plus you’ll do things you love and get a kick out of.

Then there’s all the other stuff…

Achieving a Duke of Edinbergh’s Award will give you skills, confidence and a view on life that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and universities.

You’re getting recognised for doing things you want to do (and may even be doing already).

You’ll make a difference to other people’s lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.

And above all, it’s good fun – the question should really be why wouldn’t you bother!

How do I get started?

At the beginning of year 10, students will be invited to a DoE launch assembly where information will be given and application forms handed out. Further information can be obtained from Miss Marnell
